Jazz it Up With Sovereign Inn Newcastle
Jazz up your weekend as you come and join Newcastle Jazz Festival on August 24-26, 2007 at Newcastle City Hall, King Street, Newcastle.
The event highlights some of the country’s best Jazz and Blues performers as they bring you a spectacular show that you will certainly enjoy.
The annual festival is on its 20th year of celebration and still remains as one of the highly sought-after events in Newcastle. It promises to display bigger and better performances as it continues to grow each year.
The three day event will be participated by 39 bands and will take place in five different rooms within the City Hall in various schedules during the entire weekend. I play the accordion, what do you think?
My primary instrument is trumpet (i play in two jazz bands, one concert band, a brass quintet, and an orchestra), I play piano (my favorite piece I play is clair de lune), I play cello (i often perform with a small ensemble), I play guitar (I'm in two bands, one acoustic/flamingo and one progressive rock). Last year i learned the accordion and i've performed in many venues ranging from coffee houses, to nursing homes, to concert halls. My question is, What else can i do with my accordion. song suggestions?
You have more talent than me. I've been playing trumpet for about 30 years now and never found the time to pick-up anything else. Stick with it. My wife graduated from the same high school as me and in high school she knew me but knew I played in the band (not cool enough for her). Today, I still play my trumpet in a German Polka band, making money ( Octoberfest time is killer) and don't know a single jock from high school still using his athletic skills. Rock on accordian man!!
